Smoopa is a free price comparison app that empowers you to shop smarter. Join forces with fellow shoppers to find and share good prices.
How much does the Smoopa app cost?
How do I compare and contribute prices?
Use Smoopa on your smartphone whenever you're out shopping. Scan the barcode on the packaging, select the store where you're shopping, and then enter the price. We will compare it with both online and in-store prices in our database to determine if it's a good price. The in-store price you entered will then be added to our database and shared with others.
What should I scan?
Scan just about anything in the store you are interested in buying, including books, electronics, movies, music, toys, packaged foods, apparel, accessories, shoes, office supplies, housewares, sporting goods, video games, beauty supplies, baby gear, and more.
Are shipping costs included?
Yes, shipping costs are always included in online prices so you can easily compare it to the in-store price. We'll also show you recent prices from the online retailer so you can decide whether to buy it now or later.
How do I earn rewards?
Earn rewards for finding and sharing good prices. When you find an in-store price that is better than what's available online, you may receive a special offer. If you get an offer, purchase the item in the store and submit your claim. Upon confirmation, the amount will be added to your account balance and can be redeemed for money via PayPal or rebate check, gift cards from stores such as Amazon and Walmart, or donations to various charities.
Is this a scam? Why am I receiving a special offer?
We want to thank you for helping others and contributing local pricing information. Because these prices are shared and used to grade the store, it is important that they are accurate for your claim to be approved.
What are price grades?
Price grades help you determine whether a nearby store has good prices or if you'd be better off shopping online. Each store is graded based on prices contributed by the community.
How do I submit my claim?
Tap the special offer and follow the instructions. You must buy the item in the local store, on the date, and for the price you indicated. Make sure this information is clearly visible in the photo of the receipt you submit. See complete terms for details.
I didn't have time at the store. Can I contribute prices once I get home?
Yes, make sure to select the correct store (you can search for it if needed) and enter the store price from the receipt. Items must be scanned on the date of purchase for special offers to be valid.
How long will it take to process my claim?
Due to the number of claims we receive, it can take up to two weeks to process your claim.
I have a very long receipt. What should I do?
Fold the receipt as needed to make sure the item, price, store, and date are clearly visible. If additional photos are required, you can submit them through the app.
If I buy two of the same item, do I get two rewards?
It's limit one reward per offer, so you would only be rewarded once, regardless of how many you buy. Special offers are unique to you and the item, store, price, and date.
I scanned a book and it showed me a faucet. What should I do?
We rely on the power of the community and our partners, such as Amazon, Walmart, and Target, to provide accurate product information. When it is wrong, please tap on the item image/name to select "Wrong Item" and then help identify the correct one.
It’s having trouble scanning a barcode. Do you have any tips?
When scanning an item, make sure to place it on a flat surface and avoid any partial shadows or glare on the barcode itself. You may want to try moving the phone slightly further away from the barcode. You can also manually enter the UPC at any time. If you continue to have problems, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the type of phone you're using.
How do I redeem rewards?
When you build up an account balance, you can redeem it for money, gift cards, and donations to charity. In the latest version of the app, go to the Me tab, tap on Rewards, and then select your available balance to see the current redemption options. If you haven't yet completed your profile, you will be prompted to do so.
Why do I need a profile to redeem rewards?
Certain rewards will be sent to the email or mailing address associated with your account, so please make sure to keep this information updated. It is also used to verify that you are a resident of the US and at least 13 years of age.
Can I search for items by name?
From the Deals tab, you can search for the name of the item you're looking to buy. Smoopa will try to find matching items available online and scanned by the community.
What happens when I track an item?
If you're not ready to make a purchase, you can track the item and we will send you an email when the online price drops below your target price.
What are some online retailers to which you compare prices?
We are constantly adding more prices to our database and currently compare prices with online retailers such as Amazon, Walmart.com, Target.com, BestBuy.com, and Macys.com. When Smoopa finds you a lower price and you complete your purchase, Smoopa may be compensated by the online retailer.
Can I get the online price at my local store?
Although the price you find online is not necessarily the price you will find in the store, many online retailers such as Walmart.com offer a ship to store feature on their website, letting you pay the online price and pick it up locally.
How do in-store price matches work?
Some stores such as Best Buy have a policy of matching their own online prices, letting you purchase it right away for less. Smoopa will indicate if this applies to an item you've scanned.
My friend referred me to Smoopa and gave me a promo code. How does it work?
Try Smoopa and you'll both get a bonus with your first approved claim. Download the app to your phone and then enter the promo code when you create your account. Use Smoopa whenever you're out shopping and when your first claim is approved, the bonus will be automatically added to each of your accounts. Limit one promo code per person. This promotion cannot be combined with other promotions and may be modified at any time. Please note that posting your promo code in any app review is not allowed and grounds for account termination.
Can I scan barcodes and contribute prices using my iPad?
Unfortunately, the barcode scanner is not compatible with the iPad. You will need an iPhone or an Android device with an auto-focus camera to scan barcodes and contribute prices. On the iPad, use the Search tab to find specific items by name.
Do you plan to make this available for Blackberry, Windows Phone, etc.?
We are focusing on Android and iOS devices at this time.
